Bird Whistle

A Pinch Pot Workshop

Craft a functional, bird-shaped whistle from a sphere of clay! Using one of the earliest techniques to form clay, you'll get your hands dirty and experience the joy of molding and shaping clay with your fingers. We will guide you step-by-step in creating the bird shape and functional whistle elements of your piece.

Personalize your whistle by carving details - an incredibly satisfying technique! Whistles will be glaze fired with an iron oxide wash to highlight texture, while also giving them a beautiful and tactile burnt sienna finish.

Please Note:

*Long nails are not recommended for the pinch pot technique.

VIBE:

Our cozy worktables provide the perfect setting to relax and get into your creative while enjoying a cup of tea.

FIRING AND PICK UP:

Once you are complete, choose your glaze option and leave it with us to fire. After a few weeks, return to pick up your finished piece. We work with mid-fire stoneware and your piece will be dishwasher and microwave-safe.

AGE:

This workshop is suitable for ages 12 to 100, minors must be accompanied by a participating adult.

To ensure a quality experience for all registered participants, our workshops are designed for those who have signed up in advance. Please note that extra guests are not permitted to attend or observe the workshop unless they have registered themselves. This includes children—our workshops cannot accommodate unregistered minors. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain the integrity and focus of our sessions.

ROGUE OPTIONS:

This workshop begins with the creation of a pinch pot. If you don’t want to continue with the whistle elements, craft a small bowl or trinket dish instead! You can also make a bird sculpture without the whistle elements
