Clay Picnic Quest

A self guided Journey of Clay, Nature, and Creativity

Dame Errant's Clay Picnic Quest is the perfect way to enjoy the great outdoors while getting creative with clay.

Cost: $90-$100

per quest

Here's how it works:

  • Pick up your picnic basket from Dame Errant and find a spot to enjoy the day.

  • Read the instructions thoroughly, just like learning a new board game.

  • Explore your surrounding area and find treasures to press into the clay.

  • Enjoy the outdoors while creating with two clay slabs included in the basket.

  • You have a maximum of 6 separate pieces to create, so get creative!

  • Return the basket before closing hours and pick up your fired pieces after a few weeks.

What to make? Here are some ideas:

  • Small plate

  • Trinket tray

  • Wall hanging

  • Ornaments

Basket includes:

  • Instructions

  • Two rolled slabs (approx. 8x8 inches or 8x10 inches each)

  • Carving tools tools

  • Hole Punch

  • Rolling Dowel

  • Wet cloths

  • Canvas ground cloth

IMPORTANT:

  • In the elements, you'll have about 20 minutes before the clay is too dry to shape, you will have plenty of time for carving! Keep the clay covered with plastic if you're side questing, and it's best to leave the clay in the basket out of the sun.

  • When finished, cover the clay with plastic and a damp rag. The clay is best transported before it is bone dry.

  • Makes sure to take note of the height limit! You can pinch a slight lip onto your slab, but everything needs to fit back into the basket for transport so this is not a building workshop!

Suggested additional items to bring:

  • Drinking water

  • Sunscreen

  • Throw pillows

  • Sandwiches

  • Parasols

While designed as a project for two, since ya’ll aren’t in the classroom and the limit is 6 items per basket, there is nothing from stopping you to invite more and share!

We hope you have a great time with Dame Errant's Clay Picnic Quest!
